Children with special needs require a broad range of adaptations and accommodations in order for schools to provide them with appropriate educational opportunities.  Educationally based assessments developed from norm-referenced tests often miss subtle but important aspects of the child's needs.  Schools and children benefit from broad-based evaluations of learning, motivation and reinforcement.
