Faculty and staff of schools must understand how medical conditions impact learning if they are to comply with Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act and No Child Left Behind. Not only must teachers recognize how a disability impedes learning, they must also understand the impact of disease on the child's emotional growth and development. Annual staff training is the best way to address needs of the 23% of students with a qualifying disability. |
